Accessibility Lead · Openfield

3,900 learners1 course

Leila started as a front-end developer and found accessibility the day a blind customer emailed to say he couldn't complete checkout. She fixed the bug that night and has tested with screen readers ever since. At Openfield she leads accessibility across the product, from design reviews to the automated checks in CI.

She teaches with a keyboard and a screen reader switched on, never from a checklist alone. You hear what your markup sounds like, find where focus gets lost, and fix it with semantic HTML before you reach for ARIA. The exercises use the components that fail audits most often: a custom select, a modal, an error message nobody hears.

Learners get working knowledge of WCAG 2.2, a testing routine that fits inside a sprint, and the words to make the case for accessibility to their team.

“Every lesson starts the same way: turn on a screen reader, close your eyes and listen to what you built.”
